Former Manga Publisher Employee Sues Manga Publisher

A former employee of the manga publisher Akita Publishing Co, is suing its former employer for firing her because of telling the company that it is inflating it prize giveaways.




The former employee joined the company in 2007 for the editorial department for the shoujo market. When she found out the inflated number prize winners, she reported it to her superiors. She was told to keep quiet about the issue, but when she refused, she was harassed endlessly.

She was then ultimately fired for disciplinary actions.

The Consumer Affairs Agency found that Akita Publishing had overstated the number of prize winners.
